On Matters of Life and Death

Dr. Moody, a featured expert in the media, has appeared three times on Oprah, as well as on hundreds of other local and nationally syndicated programs such as, NBC Today, ABC's Turning Point, Donahue, Sally Jessy Raphael Show, Geraldo, and The Joan Rivers Show, 2001 MSNBC Special and a 2003 Showtime special.

Recognized as a world-renowned scholar and researcher, Dr. Moody is the leading authority on the Near-Death Experience -- a phrase he coined in 1975.  His research into the phenomenon of near-death experience had its start during his college years.  His academic career includes: Fellow Hastings Institute /Ethics; M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia, 1976; Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Virginia, 1969; M.A. in philosophy from the University of Virginia, 1967; and B.A. with Honors in philosophy from the University of Virginia, 1966( Echols Scholar).

A dynamic lecturer who has enlightened and entertained audiences all over the world for over two decades, Dr. Moody offers many different lecture/workshop presentations on a range of topics including: The Wisdom Lovers and the Wisdom of Nonsense; The Healing Power of Laughter; Ethics /Critical Thinking; Near Death Experiences; and Surviving Grief and Finding Hope.

Dr. Moody received the World Humanitarian Award in Denmark in 1988 and a bronze medal in the Human Relations Category at the New York Film Festival for the movie version of Life After Life. His teaching experience includes the University of Nevada at Las Vegas - Endowed, Bigelow Chair of Consciousness Studies (1998-2002); West Georgia University - Associate Professor of Psychology (1987-92); Mercer University - taught courses in psychology of homicide (1985); University of Virginia - Visiting Associate Professor of Philosophy (1977-78); and East Carolina University - Assistant Professor of Philosophy (1969-72 ).

Dr. Moody served as Staff Forensic Psychiatrist at Central State Hospital, Milledgeville, Ga. (1984-86) with specialties in grief and bereavement, death and dying, alternate states of consciousness, forensics, geriatric psychiatry, philosophy of psychology.
