Inner Voices Concert by Yarrow

Patricia Hoisch, Tom Hoisch, and Patricia Fonseca

Patricia Hoisch (vocal and guitar), Tom Hoisch (cello), and Patricia Fonseca (vocal and percussion) perform, and share how music connects them to their inner voices.

Yarrow innovatively combines folk, rock, jazz and classical music. The cello provides symphonic overtones and is often a third lead voice. Their poetic lyrics, expressed within the universal language of music, invite the listener to explore connections with their own journey.

Singer/Songwriters, Patty Hoisch and Patricia Fonseca are introspective, creative musicians who access their inner voices through writing and sharing their music. They find the process both inspirational and challenging at times, as expressed in the lyrics of the song, Elemental Child, by Patty Hoisch, "instinctive, intuitive, carefree and wild. Teacher, friend, nemesis my elemental child...”

Patty Hoisch learned how to read and play music early in life and has been writing original music ever since.  Her lyrics are an honest expression of her life’s experiences and journey forward, and range from humorous to poignant. Patty’s inspiration, arrangements, singing and guitar playing flow throughout Yarrow’s works.

Music and singing has always been an essential part of life for Patricia Fonseca. Her songwriting reflects her literary background, poetic heart, and existential curiosity. Patricia brings a clear voice, quick wit, and djembe to the trio.

Cellist, Tom Hoisch, has played in orchestras across the U.S., including the Nashville Symphony, Pasadena Symphony, Denver Symphony, Berkshire Music Center Orchestra at Tanglewood, and Colorado Music Festival.  He has performed solo concertos with orchestras in California, Colorado and Massachusetts, and is currently a member of the Arizona Opera Orchestra. Tom’s ability to blend classical proficiency with electronic effects brings distinctive depth and color to the trio.

About Yarrow:

Yarrow was formed in 2011 when three musicians, Patty Hoisch, Tom Hoisch and Patricia Fonseca, shared a desire to push the boundaries of the familiar. Recognizing how their diverse backgrounds could become larger than the sum of their parts, they began to cross folk and rock music with classical music and poetry.

Yarrow’s arrangements incorporate orchestral qualities, unusual time signatures, intuitive vocal harmonies, and poetic lyrics. The result is an evolving mix of electric cello, acoustic guitar and djembe. They perform many original songs as well as familiar favorites with unexpected twists.

Yarrow has released two CDs, “Heart of Arizona” and “Yarrow Unvisited”.   “Yarrow Unvisited” was released in October, 2018, and will be for sale at the concert.  Yarrow’s music is available on iTunes and on popular streaming sites.
