Full-day Workshop with Martha Beck


In the tradition of her bestseller, Finding Your Own North Star, Oprah Magazine columnist Martha Beck offers on Saturday, July 11, 2009, 9am-5pm, Steering by Starlight, to help participants find their own unique best destinies. Martha will describe the step-by-step process she uses with her private clients to help them navigate the terrain of their best lives. Bringing together cutting-edge research in psychiatry, neurology, and related fields in an accessible, substantive, original way, Dr. Beck offers powerful new methods for solving the problems that beset ordinary people. Using her trademark wisdom, empathy, and engaging style, the audience will learn fresh strategies that have proven most effective and efficient for the hundreds of people Martha has coached.

For readers who have found their North Stars, this workshop will be an invaluable tool to stay the course and overcome obstacles. For those who still feel adrift, it will provide a way to find True North and follow the path of best destiny.

 

Dr. Beck identifies three stages along the path to recapturing a satisfying life:

  • The Stargazer stage helps participants understand why it's so easy to lose themselves and offers strategies for sighting their North Star;

  • The Mapmaker stage uses this newly clarified perspective to evaluate one's situation and plot a course for upcoming years;

  • The Pathfinder stage discusses the adventures that may be encountered as one travels along this new life course.

About Martha Beck

Psychology Today, USA Today and NPR have all referred to Martha Beck as “one of the best-known life coaches in American.” She is a columnist for O, the Pray Magazine, and has been a contributing editor of Real Simple, Redbook, and Mademoiselle. She appears frequently as an expert of “life design,” on programs such as Good Morning America, and the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Having earned a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in sociology from Harvard, Beck taught social science and business at undergraduate and graduate levels at Harvard and the American Graduate

School of International Management. She also conducted research on various aspects of social psychology and business, acted as a consultant for various business and government organizations, and wrote academic articles before becoming a full-time writer and life coach.

Martha’s books include New York Times bestsellers Finding Your Own North Star and Expecting Adam. She published The Four Day Win in 2007 which explores the relationship between creating the right life, eliminating self-sabotaging behavior, and staying physically healthy from the brain outward. Workshop Cost: $125

Fee includes facilitated one-day retreat held from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at Sedona Creative Life Center.  In order to stay in retreat mode throughout the day, retreatants are asked to bring a bag lunch.
