Mother Meera Darshan

One of the most widely revered and loved of Avatars of the Divine Mother is Mother Meera.  It is quite extraordinary that She will come to Sedona on Tues.& Wed., Sept. 2nd & 3rd to give Darshan (blessing) in silence for several hundred people each day in the Great Room.  People sit in silence in the meditation hall and individually approach Mother Meera for a blessing; to connect with the Divine Mother and with one's own divinity.  The impact of Darshan is life-changing.  The work is on the deep aspect of the being, the soul, while Darshan [looking] helps the personality and the life situation.  2 Darshan each day at 2 pm (doors 1 pm) and  7 pm (doors open 6 pm).  Darshan is free of charge, people may sign up for one Darshan and reservations are required.  To register, please visit www.mothermeerasedona.org For additional information, please email info@mothermeerasedona.org

Darshan  (Seeing/Receiving Blessings from the Divine)

Darshan is a Sanskrit word for meeting or experiencing an avatar, saint, guide, teacher or a sacred place for the purpose of absorbing the divine energy being offered.  Darshan is deeply intimate and at the same time expansive and universal. One connects with the Divine Mother and with one's own divinity. It is seeing and being seen. It is indescribable and must be experienced. The impact of Darshan is life-changing.  People sit before Mother Meera in silence with eyes open or closed. One by one they approach Mother Meera for personal darshan. Each one kneels before her [pranam] so she can put her fingers on their head.  When she lets go, the person sits back on their heels and looks into Mother’s eyes while she looks back into theirs.

Darshan with Mother Meera is very simple yet very powerful.  People gather at an appointed time and one at a time come up to Mother Meera and “pranam” or kneel down so she can touch their heads.  When she is done touching their head, usually for just a few moments, the person sits back on their heels and looks into Mother Meera’s eyes.  When Mother Meera closes her eyes the person stands up and goes to their seat while the next person approaches.  People who can't kneel, sit in a chair in front of Mother.  Those in wheelchairs may also approach Mother.  The entire Darshan is completed in silence and usually takes a couple of hours.

Why does Mother Meera teach in silence?  All spiritual traditions hold that the most powerful transmission of divine energy and divine experience comes when the mind is quiet. To quote Mother Meera,  “For the mind to flower it must move beyond what it knows…  People are too active and rarely sit quietly. In silence one can receive more because all one’s activities become concentrated at one point… God is silent. Everything comes out of silence.  In silence more work can be done.  The true experience of bliss is without words.”

Receiving Darshan

While in the Darshan Hall, sit quietly, meditating and praying (eyes open or closed). Each person will have the opportunity to receive individual Darshan. When you are ready for your personal Darshan, you may get in line. If you aren't comfortable kneeling in the Darshan line, just walk right up front and be the next person in line. If you are unable to kneel for Darshan and would like to sit in a chair, you can wait until the end and a volunteer will signal when it is time for you to come up and a chair will be provided for you.

Darshan Etiquette

• Come dressed normally and with washed hair
• During Darshan you must wear clean socks or soft slippers

Mother Meera’s Work

“The whole purpose of my work is in the calling down of the Paramatman Light and in helping people. For this I came – to open your hearts to the light. The consciousness of mankind is being prepared for great leaps and discoveries…many divine persons are here. We are offering (mankind) the divine Light, the divine knowledge. We are bringing down into consciousness of the Earth the divine consciousness.”

“I called down the Paramatman Light. The Paramatman Light is everywhere, but when one needs it one must know when, where, how, and for what to use it. The light was always there; I prayed to Paramatman, the Supreme Being, to be able to use it. The Light has never been USED before. Like electricity, it is everywhere, but one must know how to activate it. I have come for that.”
