Anthony Mazzella is an innovative guitar performer and award winning recording artist. BILLBOARD magazine describes him as "the new generation of guitar hero" and GUITAR ONE magazine voted him "one of the top ten guitarists in the country". Anthony released four CD's, tours internationally, contributed tracks on compilation CD's, made guest appearances on major artists releases, receives airplay on national radio and satellite television, and has an independent film soundtrack to his credit. He is an established artist in the genre of instrumental world music and has exciting new projects currently in production.
Anthony began his career as a concert guitarist in New York City. He quickly built up a strong following performing in most every live music club in Manhattan. He then landed a headlining spot at the BLUE NOTE NYC just one year after street performing in front of it and has since gone on to perform on stages all over the world. He has opened for headlining artists such as James Brown, Tower of Power, The Commodores, and Spyro Gyra. His original music is composed with a fusion of world influences consisting of jazz, classical, flamenco, rock, medieval, middle-eastern, electric and acoustic fingerstyle. Anthony also plays a one-of-a-kind Ten String Guitar that he designed and was built by his father. On this unique instrument, Anthony displays his abilities in fingering bass lines and chords with his left hand while simultaneously playing melodies on the fret board with his right. He plans on recording a CD for 10 string guitar in the future. In 2001 Anthony recorded the CD “Brio” with instrumental music veteran Chris Spheeris which won the NAV award for best acoustic instrumental CD of the year.
Mazzella began studying music on the violin at age five. He then proceeded to learn the rudiments of music on piano until falling in love with the guitar at age thirteen. Throughout his adolescence he studied with several private guitar teachers, but Anthony attributes the greater part of his education to ear training. His influences are many, but none more profound than the music and techniques of guitar masters such as Pat Metheny, Eddie Van Halen, Michael Hedges, Andres Segovia and countless others. Anthony is also one of the few chosen understudies of world-renowned guitar master Stanley Jordan. Anthony continues his studies by exploring the music from cultures all over the world and collaborating with musicians indigenous to those regions.
Anthony has recently collaborated with Grammy nominated recording artist William Eaton. Together they composed and recorded music for an Electric Harp Guitar Group CD which is currently in post-production with no official release date. Anthony is also currently the concert guitarist for world music master Omar Faruk Tekbilek. Anthony is always composing new music and performing solo in support of his recordings and to, in his words, "give life to music and music to life."
John Dumas, internationally acclaimed artist, musician, shamanic astrologer, teacher and sound healer, is an artist who creates his own flutes and didgeridoos. He was originally inspired here in Sedona among the red rocks and on a vision quest in the mountains of Virginia. He began creating multiple chambered flutes. The Heart Flute of the Four Winds is one that produces four resonating sounds that open the heart space while honoring the four directions. He has developed a unique sound therapy/healing ceremony that is titled Shamanic Journey into Dreamtime, which facilitates the healing of mind, body and spirit. With the intention of love and compassion, John opens the doorway into an altered state of time and space, producing awakened dreaming. For more information visit www.didgedumas.homestead.com
He also creates and plays the didgeridoo, an instrument used in sacred ceremonies by the (aboriginal) people of Australia for more than 50,000 years. The didgeridoo produces a unique vibratory resonance that mimics the sounds of nature, awakening our primordial essence. When played over the body, it is capable of unlocking cellular memory and balancing the rhythmic flow of the charkas.
John will be performing music from his four CDs, which include flute and
didgeridoo music and many unique small percussion sounds. These healing
sounds are the culmination of Johns educational background in the fine arts,
psychology and study of indigenous cultures. John's performances are also
permeated by his bright spirit and joyful presence.
